Charleston - one of the world's most charming cities

Many of our conference goers live in large cities... Charleston offers a break-of-pace. This unique and beautiful city offers small-city charm while being situated within minutes of Charleston International Airport. At Noble Financial we're as careful in the selection of a host city and conference venue as we are in the selection of presenting companies. Although Charleston is a very cool city, we expect the temperature to be hot and humid - don't sweat it, all conference meetings and events are in air conditioned venues. Even the pool at Charleston Place has a retractable glass roof so you can enjoy the sun while taking a cool dip.

Charleston Place Hotel is about 20 minutes from the airport - a $27 cab ride or $12 via shuttle. All major car rental companies service the Charleston airport. Once at the hotel, Noble Financial will provide all transportation to conference events and the hotel is situated directly in the center of the city's historic area - unless you plan to stay longer in Charleston, you won't need a car.

Non-stop flights are available to and from New York (LaGuardia and Newark... about a two-hour flight), Boston, Philadelphia, Washington, Atlanta, Dallas, Cincinnati and Chicago to name a few. In many cases you can arrive as early as 11:00am or as late at 9:30 pm, and leave as early as 7:00am or as late as 7:00 pm. Even if you're from the west coast, you can arrive as early as 5:00pm on Sunday and leave from Charleston as late as 7:15pm and be back in Los Angeles by 11:00pm with only one stop each way.

Charleston
- steeped in history...

Up until 1800, Charleston was the fifth largest city in North America, behind Philadelphia, New York City, Boston, and Quebec City.

The first shots of the Civil war were fired in Charleston Harbor in 1861.
After the eventual and destructive defeat of the Confederacy, Federal forces remained in Charleston during the city's reconstruction.  As the city's commerce improved, Charlestonians also worked to restore their community institutions. An elaborate public building, the United States Post Office and Courthouse, was completed in 1896 and signaled renewed life in the heart of the city. This building, as well as many of Charleston's historic properties remain intact today.

As of 2005, the U.S. Census Bureau estimated the population of the city proper as 115,540; making it the 2nd most populous city in South Carolina behind the state capital Columbia. Charleston is a notable tourist destination, with streets lined with grand live oaks draped with Spanish moss. Along the waterfront are many beautiful and historic pastel-colored homes. The city is also an important port, boasting the second largest container seaport on the East Coast and the fourth largest container seaport in North America. It is also the second most productive port in the World behind Hong Kong. Charleston is becoming a prime location for technology jobs and corporations. In the city's downtown area, the medical district is experiencing rapid growth of biotechnology and medical research coupled with substantial expansions of hospital facilities at the Medical University of South Carolina and Roper Hospital. It is also home to the very prestigious all-girls school named Ashley Hall, which was founded in 1909 and the Porter-Gaud School, founded in 1867.

We encourage you to explore and enjoy this enchanting city while in town for the Two Double-0-Seven Conference.
